Cuesta Annex Pictures and Drawings

The first image is the Cuesta Annex prune orchard in 1959 (photo by Gerry Gerontinos).
The second image is the view from Grant Road and Cuesta Drive, 1962 (by Lloyd Stickney)

Panorama Photograph of the Cuesta Park Annex. Note the natural trails that lead into the tree line.  The "Y" shaped tree trunk (3rd bottom row tree from the left) is the last living century old prune tree from the orchards shown in the images above.

Version A below is an illustration of the museum proposal sold to the public. Version B is a corrected version that illustrates the actual size and proportions of the museum as planned by the Mountain View Historic Association.

The following is a conceptual drawing by Robert Schick meant to illustrate a natural alternative to Annex development.

This the Cuesta Annex blueprint illustrated above.  Robert Schick spent four years creating this blueprint based on ten years of public input gathered in the Cuesta Annex.  The Mountain View city council said nothing about this blueprint when it was submitted in April, 2008.

Great work. You've been behind this force since 1997 at least, and I hope folks finally resolve to lay claim to their natural park's native heritage. We celebrated my 8th birthday there in 1971 and grew up in Mt View together.

  2. Bob, It's really helpful to see your renderings and imagine what a great park looks like vs a compromised park. Thank you for your efforts. I've posted a link to this page on my Twitter page: http://twitter.com/webdiva3 Hope you don't mind.

  3. Robert, I picked this up from Tatiana's Facebook posting. Thank you very much for your presentation. I can understand why the museum would want to be nested in a beautiful setting. But a large building in the middle of exiting park land does not square with the he history of Mountain View whose citizens have valued spending time and treasure to realize opportunities for parks and open space. We do hope the City Council can be convinced to look beyond the travel brochure approach of the published master plan http://www.ci.mtnview.ca.us/civica/filebank/blobdload.asp?BlobID=6234 and provide its citizens a complete look at the details before this very sad decision is enacted. 4. That's a cool photo taken from the Grant Road Water Tank cat-walk.
It was a iconic landmark for so many years..
I shot this photo back in the early 80 of the tank, and it's part of my historical archive of the area.
